#Claires40days

5th March 2014
After eating lots of Pancakes yesterday from my recipe, I started to think back to when I was at primary school and how we celebrated it, and then gave things up for lent.

I went to a CofE school, so we had assembly and prayers everyday, and we would bring in cans of food for lent to give to the homeless, and give up one luxury for 40 days and 40 nights.

Whilst I’m not a religious person (I’m more spiritual), I still love the ethos of challenging yourself to give something up. The fact that it’s only for a set amount of time is also appealing, as it gives me a lot more motivation to succeed knowing there’s an end point!

I’ve given up things like chocolate bars in the past for a month, and I’ve always found the first few days hardest, and then by the end of the month I don’t actually want any chocolate, so I’m hoping I can do this again!

Since having Chunk almost two years ago my diet has gone to pot. I keep trying little things to kickstart it, but things like Xmas and Easter rear their fat heads and I collapse. NOT THIS TIME.

I choose to give up chocolate and sweet treats for these 40 days. I have already been tested today when I was invited out to lunch with my family. We had pizza (yes I know that’s junk food) but I abstained from dessert!

Today is the first day of my challenge, which I’m calling #claires40days and I’m going to talk about it on Twitter everyday using this hashtag, so please help me keep motivated by tweeting me!

If you want to give something up too, let me know using #claires40days on Twitter and I can keep you motivated too!

The challenge is from 5th March until 17th April, wish me luck!

Hope you are doing well with giving up the chocolate. I gave up drinking for the month of January and find I am still drinking alot less than I used to.
