My Quest To Be Healthy Continues…

14th April 2015
Guess what? I’m actually doing quite well with this healthy eating and taking care of myself thing and I’m shocked!

Healthy Recipes

It was triggered by the lovely people at Upbeat Protein Drinks sending me a week’s worth of protein-packed food to see how it made me feel as part of their #upbeatchallenge.

I loved experimenting with the various ingredients to find things that were healthy, but also tasty. My favourites included peppers stuffed with quinoa, turkey mince and garlic tomato sauce and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, spinach and garlic!

Having a higher amount of protein in my diet was great, because it kept me fuller for longer so I wasn’t reaching for the quick-fix sugar highs like sweets and chocolate which have been my addiction for the past couple of years.

I had more energy and I didn’t feel as sluggish, and I enjoyed trying new meals which have now become regulars in our house.

Upbeat make protein drinks for days when you don’t have as much time to prepare protein-filled snacks and meals, and I found these really handy to use when I was out and about with work or having play dates with Chunk’s friends. They contain as much protein as a chicken breast so can help to keep your energy levels up when you start to flag (mid afternoons are my worst points!).

Skincare

I’ve also been trying to take care of my skin now that I’m getting older and the sunnier weather is finally here! I’m broke as usual so I thought I would try Aldi’s Expert Day and Night Creams as they’re only £3.99 each and lots of beauty bloggers have written about how effective they are.

I’ve been using them for over a week and for such a cheap price I’m quite impressed. They aren’t greasy like a lot of lower priced ones tend to be, and they were nice and light on the skin.

My skin has felt a lot smoother and it’s lasted well throughout the day, and the night time one has been just as good! I can definitely see why so many people rave about them, one of my best bargains this year!

Working Out

I’ve managed six workouts this week, yes SIX. For a girl that has not even managed that amount in the last three years, I am really proud of myself!

I feel a lot more determined now and focused because I’m fed up of not feeling happy when I look in the mirror. You have heard me say this so many times, but this time it’s not just words, I am actively doing something about it.

I will keep you posted on my progress!

Congratulations to you. After catching sight of myself in a mirror a couple of months ago, I've also been on a health kick too. I'm eating a lot more healthy and starting juicing to get my 5 a day. It's surprising how quickly you get used to it, but I also know from experience how easy it is to slip back too. Here's to both of us and to new healthy glows x
