Personalised books can be great in many ways, as the child feels like the story is all about them which helps them to enjoy reading and also learn depending on the subject of the story. However, I’ve found a lot of them literally just personalise the name and gender and that’s as far as it goes…until I came across The Penguin Party. This book allows you to personalise the child’s hair, skin colour, name, clothing and also the family set up they have. The book can be about the child’s single parent family, step family and two-parent family including same-sex parents. The Penguin Party is about a magical island where a group of Rockhopper penguins throw a party to celebrate your child’s arrival into the world. The book tries to teach children about celebrating our differences and accepting others. This week we were sent a copy of the new Toy Story 4 DVD and have also been sent a copy to give away to one lucky reader!We watched it last night which you may already know if you follow my twitter. It’s one of the most emotional out of the four and had me in tears within the first few minutes and again at the end! My son broke up from school today and already I'm worrying about how to fill up the six weeks for both of our sanity's!

I'm hoping to do lots of arts and crafts, as well as reading and maths to try to keep his mind active before he returns to school in September.
