I’m still astounded by the damage and chaos a tiny toddler can cause within a matter of minutes seconds. Chunk was sitting on my bed quite peacefully and happily playing on his tablet and reading some books whilst I was hoovering the room, so I thought it was safe to run the hoover around the spare room opposite. BIG mistake. I must have been literally two to three minutes tops as it’s a tiny room, and during that time he destroyed my leather headboard. To this day I still cannot work out what he used, as I ensure all sharp objects are put away up high as he tends to come and wake me up every morning and mess about in my bedroom for a while. He managed to pierce large holes in random places on my white headboard my to my horror, and due to it’s material there was no way I could fix it. I tried gluing some material over the top that matched my dark purple walls, but the glue shone through and it looked rubbish. After a little bit of thought (and tears) I had a quick search on E bay where I found some silver and purple backless buttons that were very cheap (Hong Kong I love you!) so I ordered a couple of bags. I then bought some cheap super glue from the supermarket and over a couple of evenings I randomly stuck the buttons onto the headboard, covering the holes. After a couple of buttons were stuck on, I then managed to start doing it in a heart design (this was not planned I might add) and then as I put more buttons on I began to see the potential for wings, so made these too. Et voila… Before, During & After My Upcycling Repair! Part of me is tempted to do a little more to it around the corners and leading down the headboard, but at the moment I have far too many other DIY and decoupage projects planned for various rooms and furniture in my home, so it will have to wait!
