Celebrating Pride at Home, Including a Review of the Pride Collection from To Home From London

31st July 2020

This weekend I was supposed to be at Brighton Gay Pride, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.

Covid-19 decided to take over the world, so tickets were refunded and my night with Mariah Carey is postponed! They are hosting an online festival this weekend to celebrate though, so it’s not all bad news.

I’ve grown up in Brighton and my family have taken me to the Gay Pride festivities since I was very young. It’s for everyone to celebrate and take pride in our individual differences and preferences.

Pride month nationally began in June, but Brighton have always celebrated Pride on the first weekend of August. We have thousands flock to us and have had some amazing headliners, like Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue in recent years. Apparently we are one of the biggest in the country and have been running it for 30 years.

I love that I was raised in a part of the country that has always been ahead of the times. I struggle whenever I visit some other parts of the UK and hear homophobic jokes or racism. Down here you can wear and be whatever you want and nobody bats an eyelid!

Pride at Home

So to mark Pride this year I had to think outside the box. As well as listening to the online festival, we wanted to add some Pride to our home.

To Home From London have a Pride Collection range which includes mugs, gift sets and these gorgeous handcrafted Rainbow Coaster set. They also have a Rainbow Tote Bag with the key message of supporting each other emblazoned upon it.

Their tote bags are made entirely of recycled plastic bottles, which I think is amazing, and the coasters are magnetic so they can be used as fridge decor too.

I love the positive messages on the coasters, and these could be an all-year-round part of my home decor. They are good quality and the colours are beautiful. They wipe clean easily so I can’t see them getting stained over time.

The company was created by couple Bianca and Nacho, and they create gifts and souvenirs in Camden Town, London. The products feature their own artwork designs which were painted using watercolours.

Some of their other collections include British Icons, Girl Power, Corgis, Harry Potter (my mother’s favourite!) and even British Slang.

As well as having these gorgeous Pride coasters to place around my home, we may go crazy with face paints, glitter and have a dance in the garden!

Happy Pride weekend to all of you!
