How a Minimalist, Simple Lifestyle Can Increase Wellbeing, with Simplicity Coach Chris Lovett: Win a Signed Copy of his Book, Discovery of Less

7th February 2022

The benefits of a minimalist, simple lifestyle is more important than ever after what our society’s recently been through.

Simplicity Coach and minimalist, Chris Lovett, transformed his life with the belief that less is progress.

I was fortunate enough to interview Chris about this on the Mindvox Pod recently, so please check it out to hear an in-depth pod about it!

Chris wrote Discovery of Less*, which details his journey of stepping out of his comfort zone by letting go of his home, job and possessions to create a more fulfilling life.

The book details the benefits he’s had to his mental health, relationships and career from having a simpler, minimalist approach to life.

He talks about how we can reduce stress and increase wellbeing through physical and emotional decluttering.

This includes understanding how reframing and increasing gratitude can improve our daily lives.

To find out more about the simplicity work Chris does, or to read the first chapter for free, visit his website here.

Discovery of Less book by Chris Lovett laid on a floor with the title clearly on show.

I don’t have any special de clutter tip, just try not to buy too much stuff , and sell/give to charity

My best de clutter tip is do a room at a time on a rota basis frequently so the clutter does not build up and you are ‘best friends’ with the local charity shop.

I think the best way to do it is anything you haven’t touched for over 1 year, consider it a thing to throw out.

i subscribe to the 5 mins theory – do 5 mins then chill for a bit and repeat. it gets alot done!

If you feel too attached to an item to be able to throw or give it away then put it in a box on the top of your wardrobe or under your bed and leave it there for a few months. Then, once you have realised that you can do without that item, you will find it much easier to throw or give it away.

Everything should have its own place so you always know where to put it easily and quickly. If you don’t have space for everything….time for a declutter! Get a friend to help, as they won’t be as emotionally attached to items as you will be.

I’m decluttering before a move at the moment and if I haven’t used something in a year I’m either selling it or giving it to charity
