Christmas Gift Ideas: Kids

9th November 2014
In my experience children are quite easy to buy for once they are old enough to start providing their gift wish lists to Father Christmas in their letters to him, but it’s always nice to add a few unexpected stocking fillers to surprise them.

I’ve started to browse online and in my local shops for ideas for both Chunk and my nephew Curly and here are my favourites so far:

My Best Xmas Picks So Far

Personalised Artwork Plaque

I love personalised gifts as they seem that bit more special, and I still have some keepsakes from my childhood that featured my name.
LittleBWokingham is a great online shop that creates handmade, personalised gifts for quite low prices. I chose an artwork plaque as Chunk does a lot of drawing and painting at nursery and I would love to have a different one displayed each week to show him how proud I am.

The plaque is hand painted the colours of your choice and it has two small pegs attached to it which hangs the artwork and is just £4.

Sloth Slept On

Books are a gift I will always give children because I’m a firm believer in how they help your language, reading, awareness and imagination (I also want to steer them away from dreaded technology once in a while!).
I reviewed this hardback with Chunk recently and it was a hit and it’s currently one of his favourite bedtime stories.
Sitting Rabbit

This rabbit is Chunk’s latest cuddle companion and bedtime buddy, who he has originally named ‘Bunny’. It comes in two colours and I think it’s a bargain at £4.99 because it’s a really well-made toy. It’s beautifully soft and the perfect size for Chunk to carry around and for me to find when he’s dropped it.

Thomas The Tank Engine DVD

I loved Thomas as a child so I was happy that he’s still going strong now I have a child of my own, even if they did change the theme tune (which I admit has now grown on me).

Thomas & Friends: Tale of the Brave is about Thomas and his friends trying to find out what or who made some very unusual footprints during a scary thunderstorm. During their search they encounter dangerous situations which takes courage to face, as well as new friends to help them with their quest. Typical Thomas fun with those lovely, subtle messages that I hope slip into Chunk’s unconscious!

Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles Jumbo Jet

The Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles Jumbo Jet comes with a Peppa Pig figure and two suitcases, and you can of course add any Peppa figures you already have as the jet passengers.
I’ve yet to meet a young child that doesn’t like or know of Peppa so it’s always a sure-fire win!

For the purpose of this post I was sent samples from each of these companies. No payment was received and all opinions are honest and my own.

I love the Bunny too. I think Santa is going to bring Chunk a very lovely sack this year. It never ceases to amaze me how much you can get for your money nowadays which makes it easier to pop an extra present in your shopping for when the Christmas Toy collections start for children who might not be so lucky.

Some lovely ideas here – especially Bunny (my favourite), think the Peppa Pig plane would be great for my Gt-Nephew, so have bookmarked that to ask about

I loved Thomas the Tank engine when I was a kid.
