#My3Things Positive Parenting Motivator: Week 2

27th July 2014
Cannot believe this is my second #My3Things already, the weeks are going too fast at the moment!

As you know from last week, I want to value myself and my parenting a bit more, so I have created this and a linky to help me to do this.

Each week I will list three things that have not gone so well that week, three things I want to focus on improving next week, and ending the post with three things I’ve done really well. The reason it’s in this order is because you should always end on a positive!

It’s not about telling yourself off, or criticising, it’s about self improvement and recognising the skills and good things about us which we always ignore. Yes it starts by looking at what wasn’t too good, but this is so you can reflect on why these may have gone wrong and then look at how to avoid this next week- we learn from our mistakes!

The linky is to keep me and you guys motivated if you want to join in, thank you so much to Being Tilly’s Mummy for joining in with my first linky last week, it was so good to read similar feelings and daily life issues as my own!

3 Things That Were Not So Good This Week

  • The humidity (yes typical moany Brit!). Having that film of sweat on your body all day long due to a lack of air is vile, and it really doesn’t help my mood or my level of patience.
  • I have made more of an effort with the bedtime issues, but I am still finding this hard and some days not doing as well as others!
  • Shouting at Chunk occasionally during his bedtime tantrums rather than keeping my cool.

3 Things I Want To Focus On Next Week

  • Yet again working on keeping my cool during the bedtime tantrums for longer than I managed this week.
  • Carrying on finding fun things for me and Chunk to do as he is getting very hyper at the moment.
  • Avoiding shouting and keeping my voice low and firm.

3 Things I’ve Done WELL This Week

  • I have made a huge effort not to give the threat of time out which is one of the things I wanted to focus on last week. I have hardly said it at all, instead just saying “Stop doing [insert behaviour here] please” and then put him straight on time out if he has continued.
  • Towards the end of the week I have got the old Slim Fast back out and started having this and keeping my snacks to just fruit and healthy yoghurts, so proud of myself!
  • I have made much more effort to spend more quality time with Chunk by doing activities that we havent done before.

Now It’s Your Turn…

Great linky idea. I might have a lot to say this time next week as my daughter is going to be at home more. There will be some adjusting from being at nursery full time

Being patient can be so difficult can't it, especially when you don't have the back-up of a partner to take over when it all gets too much. Hope you manage to crack your bedtime routine. It made such a different to Potato and I when we could end the day on a calm note.
Thanks for linking up with #BinkyLinky
