Toddler Holiday Essentials

23rd May 2014
Our recent caravan holiday

I love travelling across the country and staying in caravan family resorts, as it means even skint people like me and Chunk can get away for a few days!

The only downside to these holidays have been the amount of things I’ve had to pack for Chunk, and how you never know what the quality of the caravan will be like.

Some caravans have had lots of space, great size beds and great storage, whereas others have had the complete opposite. This means I have to prepare for both outcomes, which means lots of things need to be packed into our car!

We went on holiday last week and thankfully I had managed to do a little research beforehand in the hopes to avoid taking so much stuff (because since our last holiday I have got a much smaller car!).

I’ve used products from The Gro Company before, because they are pretty clever with their inventions- their bedding sets helped my son move from cot to bed, and their grobags are a must for my wiggly little boy!

Necessity for any holiday

So I was quite pleased when I came across their travel blind, travel chair harness and new grobag designs.

The Gro Anywhere Blind is a brilliant blackout blind that you can take on holiday with you to ensure your child’s bedroom will be just as dark as it is at home. Caravans tend to have really thin curtains that are just…pants, so it was great to use this!

I love that it folds into a little bag for easy storage, and I was surprised how big it can extend to, as it can fit large windows, and can shrink for smaller windows as it has little Velcro bits in between each suction pad.

This is such a handy thing to have, and even if I go away for a night without Chunk, I will take it just in case my hotel room has rubbish curtains too.

Check out the awful caravan curtains!

The Chair Harness was great, because again it’s packed in a small bag and is far tinier than a travel high chair! It ties onto a chair to keep your toddler safe and able to eat with the family.

It’s so light to carry which meant I could bung it in my handbag when we ate out at restaurants, and he could sit at the dining table in the caravan and I could tell he felt great sitting ‘normally’ in a chair like mummy and nanny.

Handy harness

Gro Company’s grobags are my favourite sleeping bags for my boy, and he’s been in them since he was born! Even now at 2 years old he’s a huge wriggler during his sleep, to the point where he moves to the bottom of the bed and always kicks covers off, so sleeping bags stop him from waking up cold in the middle of the night.

Caravans are freezing at night, even when it’s warmer weather, so I would never take him to stay in one without one of these.

Grobags have a zip on them (the popper sleeping bags are too easy for him to pull off) and there’s a cover at the top and bottom of the zip to avoid little hands opening them before they fall asleep.

As usual, his sleeping bag kept him warm and secure, and gave him extra padding on the not-so-comfy beds we unfortunately had.

Overall, I would recommend all three of these if you are going on a caravan holiday this year with a baby or toddler, and to be honest they would even be useful in hotels and overnights with the grandparents!

Grobags are vital for my wriggly toddler

The Gro Company kindly sent me these three items for review. No payment was received for this post, and all opinions are honest and my own.

Those grow bags are great, they are perfect for taking away and people often bring them here on holiday.

These are brilliant buys, it is not just little ones who need a blackout blind to sleep though, I could do with one of those myself.
