Going To The Rainforest…!

Last weekend I took Chunk to the launch of the new Rainforest Adventure section at Brighton Sealife Centre.

I’m already a yearly pass holder, because at £40 for the whole year (and Chunk is free until he’s 3) it’s a cheap way to entertain him on the very frequent rainy days we seem to have all year round!

We have been so much this winter, that the chance of seeing something different in the centre was quite appealing (there is only so many times you can see the same starfish and octopus before you start to want more!).

Rainforest Adventure features a 9 foot long anaconda, which we had fun trying to find, as she seemed to be hiding, but after a few minutes we managed to see her head!

Anaconda’s are the world’s largest snake species, so this is definitely a highlight of the new area.

The area has been decorated in an ancient Inca temple style, and even features some brilliant sound effects.

You can find out more about poison dart frogs, piranhas and Chinese water dragons, and Chunk loved looking at the mini turtles most of all.     

There was even a little looking glass inside the tank, so people could climb under and have a gander, but Chunk was a bit too short to see anything from it, but I’m sure we will be going to that section a lot in the near future!

As usual we couldn’t visit without going into the tunnel underneath the Centre’s main tank, as Chunk loves seeing the sharks and giant turtles swimming above us (and I love hearing Chunk say the word shark with his little toddler lisp!).

We then headed onto the main floor to see all the fishes and crabs (or spiders according to Chunk), and spent some time playing with the starfish (he loves touching them) before going into the Octopus area and then exploring the gift shop.

The new addition to the centre has a big thumbs up from me and Chunk, and for all you Sealife Centre virgins out there I would recommend you book in advance online, because tickets are not cheap otherwise!

Next time we go, I’m sure the anaconda will have gotten over her stage fright, so Chunk will be able to make funny faces and hiss like a snake- fun times!
