The Red Cross Baby & Child Life-Saving App: My Review

2nd June 2013
The British Red Cross have launched a brand new app offering parents and carers first aid advice that could potentially save a child’s life.

The free app provides useful advice on a range of accidents that most parents have to attempt to deal with at some point, from choking on a sweet, nasty cuts and asthma attacks, to meningitis and falling unconscious.

Red Cross Baby and Child App first aid, parenting

I’ve been on numerous first aid courses over the years through my role as a social worker in fostering, but I tend to forget a lot of the training quite soon afterwards from the lack of practice in my day to day life.  I love this app because it helps to refresh my memory of the training, and it reassures me that I will actually be able to help my son and any other child if they have an accident, rather than trying to recall the training in a state of panic!

There are videos, animations and tips, and you can then test your knowledge using the built in first aid quizzes.

There’s also a hospital finder in case a of emergency while you’re out and about, as well as a section where you can store your child’s medication needs and any allergies.

To download the app, visit the British Red Cross.
